La presi\u00f3n intraocular (PIO)<\/strong> es la fuerza del l\u00edquido interno del ojo contra sus paredes. Se mide con tonometr\u00eda<\/strong>, un examen r\u00e1pido e indoloro. Conocer tu PIO es clave para descartar glaucoma<\/strong> y vigilar otras condiciones. En esta gu\u00eda ver\u00e1s qu\u00e9 es la PIO<\/strong>, valores orientativos<\/strong>, factores de riesgo<\/strong> y qu\u00e9 hacer si la PIO est\u00e1 alta o baja<\/strong>.   • PIO<\/strong>: presi\u00f3n del humor acuoso<\/strong> dentro del ojo. Mantiene la forma del globo ocular y su funci\u00f3n \u00f3ptica.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Tonometr\u00eda<\/strong>: m\u00e9todos m\u00e1s comunes en cl\u00ednica\n
      \n
    • No contact (aire)<\/strong>: soplo breve de aire; orientativa, \u00fatil como tamizaje.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Aplanaci\u00f3n (Goldmann)<\/strong>: est\u00e1ndar de referencia en consultorio; requiere gota anest\u00e9sica y contacto suave.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Rebote (iCare)<\/strong>: contacto m\u00ednimo, \u00fatil en ni\u00f1os y monitoreo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Paquimetr\u00eda<\/strong>: mide grosor corneal<\/strong>; corrige\/ contextualiza la PIO (c\u00f3rneas muy gruesas o delgadas pueden sesgar<\/strong> la lectura).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Duraci\u00f3n del examen<\/strong>: 5\u201310 minutos (ambos ojos).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Valores orientativos y factores que los modifican<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      • Rango habitual<\/strong>: 10\u201321 mmHg<\/strong> (mil\u00edmetros de mercurio).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • La interpretaci\u00f3n no es aislada<\/strong>: edad, grosor corneal (paquimetr\u00eda), hora del d\u00eda, medicaci\u00f3n, miop\u00eda alta, inflamaci\u00f3n, trauma, cirug\u00eda reciente y antecedentes familiares<\/strong> influyen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • PIO alta<\/strong> no siempre significa glaucoma; glaucoma<\/strong> es un da\u00f1o del nervio \u00f3ptico<\/strong> que puede ocurrir con PIO alta o incluso con PIO \u00abnormal\u00bb (glaucoma de presi\u00f3n normal).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Por eso, ante un valor elevado o sospechoso se solicitan pruebas complementarias<\/strong> y seguimiento.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

          • Repetir medici\u00f3n y verificar paquimetr\u00eda<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Solicitar OCT de nervio \u00f3ptico\/m\u00e1cula<\/strong> y campo visual<\/strong> para evaluar da\u00f1o funcional y estructural.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Evaluar \u00e1ngulo iridocorneal (biomicroscop\u00eda\/gonioscop\u00eda).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Definir frecuencia de controles<\/strong> y, si corresponde, iniciar tratamiento seg\u00fan criterio m\u00e9dico.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
